Editor’s Declaration:
It may be a secret that we have a big project coming along, but we don’t want it to be kept from you.
What is keeping us from immediately taking our questions to what we hope are going to be willing sources, aside from investigation and getting our ducks in a row, is making sure our motives are in the right place.
What we are getting ready to execute out in the field is something so large and frankly repulsive to even talk about, however it must be brought into the open. It is of highest importance that it be done delicately and with right motivations.
If I send my reporters out and they are antagonistic, pointing fingers, or pushing people into corners all for the sake of being provocative or doing it for personal pride… then my reporters and myself, as the man in charge, would be doing it for the wrong reasons. Furthermore, I would say we could not be a trusted news source.
Journalism is about exposing the hidden things in our communities for the sake of taking care of the people who have been neglected by their government, realtors, landlords, churches, business owners, banks and creditors, hospitals, et cetera.
All of the named establishments have in them checks and balances to stay afloat morally and to operate within the Constitution, state and local laws. However, when those balances are abused, Journalism might be the last stand for goodness especially in a small community.
Of course, even newsmen fall to the same things all establishments fall to. This is why we have chosen our course of patience and checking ourselves: our own motives. My reporters, investigators, and office-jockeys have proven themselves worthy of being one of the last bastions of honest news and investigation.
I assure you of that because we have meetings regularly to check ourselves and all of us participate in them. If you do not believe us now, you may believe us by our deeds in the field later. Our deeds will prove to you that we are untouchable.
We need to be ready to tackle this secret issue we’ve been investigating, but with goodness, and not compromising with those people or their acts which I am talking about.
We have evidence.
There has been a big secret in this county and perhaps even the region for a long time. So, we have embarked on this course, carefully, to reveal what’s beyond the wall brick by brick. Just as a worker of masonry lays the brick one by one, so we will remove them one by one.
What is secret shall not stand in secret for long.
We dare not brag, we only dare to prepare our motives.
In closing,
This has been your Editor: Dr. Alfred Beryl.
